Unseen64 Reveals The History Of The Lost Pilotwings Game

Pilotwings was never Nintendo's biggest franchise. Though it had its fans during the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 days, there was a 15-year gap between the 1996 64 entry and the 3DS entry, the latter of which didn't exactly light the world on fire. Between those two games, however, exists a secret history of Pilotwing games, none of which came to fruition. Unseen64, partnering with Youtube channel Did You Know Gaming, lays out the history of Pilotwing projects that never made the light of day. Entries for the series were planned for both the Gamecube and Wii. The game would have been developed by Factor 5 (who made the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series) and taken place in the real world. The project was revisited for the Wii with a lighter tone. Both times, however, outside issues grounded the development of the game. You can watch the full history of the incomplete games below. Attack On Titan 2 Coming To Switch In Japan

The sequel to the first Warriors-style Attack on Titan game was first announced back in August, bringing with it another round of high-flying giant murder next year. When it comes time to slash these monster in the back of their next, we may end up being able to do it on the go. Speaking at this week's Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo announced a Switch version of its licensed action game. Previously, the game was announced for PlayStation 4, Vita, and PC (via Steam). The company has not officially announced the Switch version for the US just yet, but considering it's already coming stateside, that seems likely. [Source: Gematsu]   Our TakeSwitch ports of PS4 games keep coming at a rate that makes me think Switch could end up being a more viable third-party platform than we thought. I hope these kinds of announcements keep coming.

Super Mario Run Is Getting A New World, Character, And More Next Week

Super Mario Run might not be the best Mario game by a longshot, but its certainly one of the most popular entries, having been downloaded millions of times by phone users. We haven't heard much about the game after its release, but next week the game will receive a major update. The update adds several new features. Thew new World Star has nine new levels exploring new tricks. Remix 10 has players trek through 10 "bite-sized sections" of the game's current levels with new bonus medals, which acts as a repeatable challenge which can net you new decoration items. If players make it through Remix 10 and rescue Princess Daisy, she becomes a playable character. Finally, when the update drops, you'll be able to play your own music in the background. The character you play as will wear their headphones when you do this. The update launches September 29, during which the in-app ten-dollar purchase of the full game will be discounted to five dollars. [Source: Super Mario App Store page via NintendoEverything]   Our TakeI played about two hours of the trial levels of Super Mario Run, collecting all the coins in the first world. I fully expected to never think about it again, but the new content and discount price have me thinking about finishing the rest of the game. Hm...

The trailer also has footage of characaters we already knew about, such as Lyn and Camilla, pulling of their special moves and destroying waves of enemy soldiers (spoiler: that's what you do in Warriors games). The Latest Code Vein Trailer Mixes Cutscenes and Dark Souls Gameplay

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for its Dark-Souls inspired anime game, Code Vein. Like Dark Souls, Code Vein pits you against difficult, ghastly opponents in the midst of a hellish, desolate landscape. Unlike Dark Souls, Code Vein is very anime. The latest trailer makes this clear, as gameplay segments are intercut between scenes thick with dialogue and anime camera angles, which is something Dark Souls tended to lack. Though the trailer is in Japanese, you can get a vague sense of the story Code Vein has to tell by watching the trailer below. (Please visit the site to view this media)
